Safety on the farm & bushland
Tasmanian farms and bushland are beautiful natural environments. Stay on the cleared tracks and take care around wildlife, animals and uneven ground.
Snakes
Tiger snakes, lowland copperheads and white-lipped snakes occur in the West Tamar region. Wear enclosed shoes, do not approach or handle snakes, and calmly move away. If bitten, call 000 immediately.
Uneven ground
Animal burrows, roots, fallen branches, loose gravel and slippery leaves may be difficult to see. Watch each step and avoid long grass and off-track areas.
Ticks, leeches & ants
Check clothing, skin and scalp after walking. Do not squeeze or forcibly pull an attached tick. Jack Jumper stings can cause anaphylaxis in some people.
Farm animals
Do not enter paddocks or feed animals unless invited and supervised. Animals may kick, bite, spit or become startled.
Fire risk
Smoking and vaping are prohibited throughout Chandelle Park. Do not light fires. Ask a host before using the firepit; a host must light it.
After dark
Use a torch and stay on the tracks. Wildlife is active after dark and can move unexpectedly near buildings and driveways.

Call 000 for an emergency. Contact the Chandelle Park hosts on 0423 555 785. Follow the evacuation diagram and procedures displayed in the Garden Studio.
Allergic reactions
Know when to call Triple Zero
A serious allergic reaction after a tick bite or Jack Jumper ant sting is a medical emergency.
Warning signs
Difficulty breathing, swelling of the tongue or throat, wheezing, persistent coughing, dizziness, collapse, vomiting, abdominal pain or a widespread rash.
If any of these symptoms occur, call 000 immediately.
Reduce exposure
Wear long pants, socks and enclosed shoes. Do not disturb ant nests, logs, rocks, leaf litter or soil mounds. Shower and change clothes after bush walks.
Attached tick
Do not squeeze, twist, burn, scratch or forcibly pull it out. Contact a host for tick-removal spray and first-aid help. Seek medical help if the tick cannot be safely treated or the person is allergic.
Leeches
Leeches are generally harmless and often drop off on their own or can be gently removed. Contact a host if first-aid help is required.
Stay on the marked tracks
Closed gates, paddocks and private areas are not guest-accessible unless a Chandelle Park host invites you in.
